VI.10.15 Pompeii. Shop. Excavated 1830? (Strada della Fortuna 57).

According to Fiorelli this was a wide shop, on the right side of which was a staircase supported by two pilasters.

(“Ampia bottega, sul cui destro lato eravi una gradinata sostenuta da due pilastri.”)

According to Pagano and Prisciandaro, found in April 1824 on the pilaster on the left of the entrance, was –

Priscum    [CIL IV 263]

Found in September 1829, on the pilaster on the south-east corner of the insula (on the right of the photo above) was –

C(aium) Calventium Sit[3]

IIvir(um) i(ure) d(icundo)    [CIL IV 276]

These capitals were lodged here for safety, they most probably topped the pilasters of the vestibule of VI.10.14.
